LIGHT
(placement)
Light levels will have the greatest impact on how
long your blooms will last. With the right light levels, certain
varieties will continue to grow new blooms on the end of the spike.
So, where is the best location in your house?
Summer: Place your orchid near a window that receives
a lot of light but never gets direct sunlight (direct sunlight may
burn the leaves).
Winter: You may place your orchid
in a spot that receives some direct sunlight. A test you can use
to judge if your orchid is getting too much direct sunlight is simply
to feel the leaves - if they get really warm you may want to move
your orchid to a spot with less direct sunlight.
